WF teams make impact at Fall Cup
Last week, The Pioneer ran a story highlighting the West Fargo Soccer Club Bombers' first-place finish at the National Sports Center Fall Cup in Blaine, Minn., on Oct. 8-9.
But there were other WFSC teams that made noise of their own.
The WFSC U-11 Girls Strikers took second place in the C2A division of the NSC Fall Cup, which is the top division in their age group offered.
The Strikers kept a clean sheet going into the final, allowing no goals and outscoring their opponents, NESA, STMA, and Minneapolis United, 9-0 in the three qualifying games. The loss in the final came to PSA by a score of 3-2.
Team members of the Strikers are Kylee Aberle, Julianna Bergen, Rachel Blasczyk, Yasmina Dokara, Tianna Daniels, Saela Fredricks, Ceely Fritz, Callyn Johnson, Maggie Manson, Jacie Osier, Alyssa Paper, Alex Rolstad, and Mariah Schatz. They are coached by Kelvin Daniels.
The NSC Fall Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament held in the fall in the U.S.
The two other WFSC teams, the Boys U-13 Lightning and Fury, had impressive wins. The lighting took a first-round win over Iowa 2-1, while the Fury beat Minneapolis United 4-0 in the second round.
Coach Kelvin Daniels said all the WFSC teams "played their hearts out and made West Fargo proud."
