West Fargo elementary school students Maggie Manson and Christian Kuntz took top honors at the Knights of Columbus State Free Throw Championship, held April 2 in Bismarck.

Manson, who competed in the 10-year-old girls group, took first place after making 23 free throws out of 25. Her score was sent in to the K of C Supreme Office in Washington, D.C., to compete with other State Champions for International Honors. Manson advanced to state by going 12-for-15 at the local level, 18-for-25 at district, and 23-for-25 at region.

Kuntz competed in the 10-year-old boys group, and hit 22 out of 25 free throws to tie for first place. To break a tie, each participant shoots five free throws until a there is a winner.  Kuntz made his first four and the fifth one rolled around the rim and fell off. The other boy made all five to win the title. Kuntz made it to state by sinking all 15 of his shots at local competition, going 23-for-25 at district, and 22-for-25 at region.

Manson and Kuntz both attend Aurora Elementary School in West Fargo.
