Starting plants indoors gives head start
The growing season is the time between the last freeze in spring and the first freeze in autumn. The average last occurrence of temperatures 32 degrees or lower for Fargo is May 15, and September 26 is the average first date in the fall when the temperature drops to 32 degrees. This means that Fargo has a mean freeze-free period of 130 days. Although this is 10 days longer than in Minot, it is still short compared to southern states. Because those dates are average, there is an equal chance that the temperature could fall below 32 degrees a few days sooner or later than those dates.
Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity dedicates twin homes
Several community organizations have come together to help two Iraqi families build a new home and a better life in America. Volunteer soldiers from the North Dakota Army National Guard and Air National Guard, Lutheran Social Services, WDAY-AM 970 radio, and Congressman Earl Pomeroy’s office, partnered together with Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanities to build a twin home in West Fargo. The twin home will become home for an Iraqi widow and her seven children on one side. Her refuge brother and his family will live in the adjacent home.
