Duane A. Degenstein, 59, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Fargo. Duane was born to Leonard and Ann (Kremmer) Degenstein on November 1, 1950 at Minot, N.D. Duane grew up in Voltaire and Velva, N.D. He attended school in Voltaire and graduated from high school in Velva in 1969. Duane spent 10 years in California. He entered the Army while in California and served until 1976.
Duane Ardell Degenstein and Alane Frances Fischer were married on November 23, 1979 in Fargo. Duane worked for P.S.A. Air while in California and then worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, Dakota Railroad Service, Alloway, Buehler, and Walmart after returning to North Dakota. Duane and Alane lived in West Fargo until 1983, when they moved to Valley City, N.D. where they lived until moving to LaMoure, N.D. In 1990 they came to Fargo and have lived here since.
He is survived by his wife, Alane, Fargo; children, Jason, Fargo, Lance, Fargo; grandson, Kurtis, Hatton, N.D.; mother, Ann Degenstein, Salem, S.D.; brothers, Richard (Maureen) Degenstein, LaGrange, Calif., Ernie (Patty) Degenstein, Thorofar, N.J.; sisters, Joyce (Butch) Meyer, Salem S.D., Bonnie (Dave) Smith, Pasadena, Md.; brothers-in-law, Mike Fischer, New Salem, N.D., Gordy (Deb) Fischer, Fargo, Ed (Bobbi) Fischer, Devils Lake, N.D., Bill (Lori) Fischer, Fargo; sisters-in-law, Sherrie Brenden, Aurora, Colo., Joan (Darryl Lample, Park Rapids, Minn., Rose Rios, West Fargo; mother-in-law, Delores Fischer, West Fargo. He was preceded in death by his father and his sisters, Carol Ethridge and Bernadine Degenstein.
Visitation and prayer services were held on Sunday, August 15, 2010, in Boulger Funeral Home.
A memorial service was held on Monday, August 16, 2010, at Boulger Funeral Home.
