Special Events

Man Toys on Display: Through March 31. The library’s current display is from local resident Neil Wenberg’s collectible war toys. Wenberg is loaning many of his 1930s and 1940s Manoil, Barclay and Built-Rite items for the public to view. They were manufactured during the Depression and World War II when there was a shortage of money and metal, and are made of cardboard and hollow lead slush.

Introduction to Facebook: 6 p.m. Thursday. Join us as we explore the basics of Facebook, including creating accounts, adding friends, and writing posts. Patrons must have their email address and email password to create a Facebook account. Laptops will be provided. Space is limited. Register at the service desk.

Gardening Event: 1:30 p.m. Saturday. West Fargo Public Library and Three Rivers Garden Club present Joe Bergeson, Bergeson Nursery, Fertile, Minn. Topic: “Hardy Roses in the North.” Location: West Fargo Public Works Building, 810 12th Ave NW. Free. Stop by the library for a map.

New Release Movie: “The Martian,” 2 p.m. Saturday. Join us for a showing of this epic sci-fi adventure tale. Based on the best-selling novel “The Martian” by Andy Weir, this thrilling film follows Mark Watney an astronaut stranded on Mars. To stay alive, Watney must find a way to contact Earth, expand his meager food supplies, and await a rescue mission. Will he make it home? Rated PG. Free and open to the public.

Craft Supply Recycling: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. To celebrate National Craft Month, West Fargo Public Library and the Knitty Giddy group are hosting the second annual craft supply recycling each Tuesday evening in March. In April. All supplies will be donated to local activity centers.

Regular Events

Friday Morning Movie: 10:30 a.m. Friday. Free. Open to the public.

Genealogy: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Bring projects or just ask questions.

Simply Stories: 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. This session is geared for lap babies and preschoolers and is just stories – no crafts. For stories and simple make-and-take crafts, visit the library at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Registration is not required.

Storytime with a Craft – The Best Toys: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Story times are geared for preschool through first grade-age children and their caretakers. Day cares are welcome, but for groups larger than five, call ahead at (701) 433-5460. Registration is not required.

Knitty Giddy: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Join this fun group for an evening of knitting or crochet. Come with your own supplies. Not for beginners, but tips will be given to knitters and crocheters needing help. No preregistration required!

Ham Radio: 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sessions are open to adults and accompanied children interested in learning more about ham radio.

Announcements

The Homework Center is open from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday when school is in session.
