Night to Unite at Elmwood Park

Night to Unite is back for its yearly run Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Elmwood Park in West Fargo, 500 13th Ave. W.

Hosted by the West Fargo Police Department, the annual gathering has become one of West Fargo's most anticipated evenings with a goal of bringing neighborhoods together to promote crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen community spirit, and most importantly, send a message to criminals that local citizens will not tolerate crime.

West Fargo Police Chief Arland Rasmussen said "participation in the event over the years has grown to include thousands of people and Night to Unite continues to grow because it is truly a family event that everyone enjoys."

On that note he encourages citizens of West Fargo and surrounding communities to head on over to Elmwood Park next Tuesday "to join in a fun evening with family, neighbors and friends. Night to Unite provides an opportunity for the public to meet law enforcement officers and dignitaries from their community in a relaxed atmosphere. They also have an opportunity to view specialized equipment utilized by law enforcement and other emergency personnel and meet the officers that serve them every day, as well as speciality teams with unique abilities."

The annual theme of "Neighbors Joining Together"offers up a variety of activities, most suited for the younger children, including educational learning experiences, demonstrations, entertainment, food vendors, and information booths.

West Fargo Police Department members will be concentrating their efforts on ensuring that everyone attending has a great time. Working to help achieve that will be members of other law enforcement agencies, civic groups, and a variety of businesses.
