The West Fargo City Commission and School Board announced their budgets for 1971-72. The city budget was $404,700, up $108,626 from the previous year. The budget included $50,000 for a new well. The school district budget totaled $1,334,080, a $75,000 increase with new line items for legal services and cost of negotiating after another contentious round of salary talks.
The highlight of the 1991 Red River Valley Fair was a concert featuring the hottest name on the country music scene, Garth Brooks, who drew a sellout crowd of 14,000 fans. His opening act was "recent country newcomer, Trisha Yearwood." Twenty-five years later, Brooks and Yearwood return to play four concerts at the Fargodome drawing nearly 74,000 people.
