Library welcomes first patrons
Opening day at the new West Fargo Public Library was everything Library Director Miriam Arves hoped it would be. It was fantastic. It was so nice to come back and be a library again. When I saw all the people visiting throughout the day it was everything I had hoped for and more.
The facility opened Monday in its new base of operation at the Lodoen Community Center, 109 3rd St. E. Prior to this, the Library had operated for 30 years at 401 7th St. E.
The transition to the new space has been taking place the last several weeks. Arves said the majority of the materials are now on shelves and ready to be checked out by patrons. A brand new drop box for materials is also conveniently located right outside the front door of the building.
She said patrons to the Library Monday appeared to approve of the new setting whole-heartedly. We had an extremely busy day. Arves said she took great delight in watching visitors reconnect with friends they happened to run into. Thats the atmosphere we want to create, a relaxed, fun place where patrons can sit on our couches and read, or converse quietly with friends.
Arves noted this is all made easier by the fact that Library space has tripled with the move, making it much more convenient to move around, research and find materials.
Hours at the new West Fargo Library location are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. The facility also has a new phone number 433-5460.
A special grand opening will be scheduled for sometime in early October to acquaint the entire community with the facility.
