Racing season opens with roar Friday
Practice time is over. Now, its for real.
Last weekend, dozens of area drivers took to the Red River Valley Speedway for the Test and Tune day, held Saturday at the track.
Friday, theyll take off the training wheels off and start the 2006 season for real, as the track lights it up with the Season Opener.
The track will once again be a part of the Wissota regional circuit, racing six classes from Mod-Fours all the way up to the 360cc Sprints.
Looking to repeat as champions this year will be:
Mike Greseth, Harwood-Mod-Fours
Travis Saurer, Dalton, Minn.-Midwest Modifieds
Chad Ohnstad, Harwood-Modifieds
Duffy Froemke, Lisbon-Street Stocks
Tod Carter, Lisbon-Super Stocks
This year, a few changes are in store. There will be a full slate of racing on Wednesday, June 14, before the Red River Valley Fair rolls into town. And on Saturday through Sunday, June 16 and 17, the Speedway will open the World of Outlaws to the track for the weekend. It will be the first time in recent history that racing will coincide with the fair, and the first time ever for the Fair Shootout featuring the World of Outlaws.
Racing at the Red River Valley Speedway starts every Friday night at 7:30 sharp. The track gates open at 6:30 p.m.
