Get fit with Walk This Way 2008

Now is your chance to start getting in shape for summer. Area residents are encouraged to join the Walk This Way 2008 program, an annual series of group walking events promoting a healthier lifestyle. This year's program began on Tuesday, March 25, with a walk led by Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker. Organizers of the program have planned a total of 15 walks throughout the months of March, April and May. All Cass and Clay county residents are encouraged to take part in the program.

"Walking reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and breast and colon cancer," said Kim Lipetzky, a nutritionist at Fargo Cass Public Health. "It can also help you lose weight and get a better night's sleep. Establish this healthy habit by joining us for Walk This Way 2008."

There is no cost to participate, and anyone completing at least four walks will be eligible to win a prize drawing. Registered participants can ride free on Metro Area Transit buses between April 21-26 by showing their "Walk This Way" passport.
