Pioneer reaching out in new way

Change is on the way.

The West Fargo Pioneer is teaming up with its parent company, Forum Communications Co., to provide expanded coverage for West Fargo's community newspaper.

A launch date of Thursday, May 1, has been set for the changes that will include a trendier, streamlined publication, and a brand new delivery day and method of distribution.

In the past, West Fargo Pioneer subscribers have received their Pioneer in the mail on Wednesday. But effective May 1, subscribers will receive their papers on Thursday, with delivery set up in a new way. West Fargo daily subscribers to The Forum will automatically receive a copy of the Pioneer inside their Thursday morning Forum, while Pioneer subscribers who don't receive The Forum will still receive their paper through their regular mail delivery. The Pioneer will also still be available on newsstands inside Thursday's Forum in West Fargo, or wherever racks indicate that.

Because of the change, the Pioneer will now distribute more than 5,000 papers weekly, up from about 2,000 papers today.

Pioneer General Manager Karen Huber said this is an exciting and innovative move that should serve to complement both publications. "The Pioneer will retain its own identity with the community it has served for over 40 years, as well as serve as a value-added piece to The Forum as the area's daily local and regional newspaper. This new delivery partnership will be great for everyone, providing us a greatly enhanced readership audience, as well as providing optimum value-added exposure for our loyal advertisers who will now be reaching out to a much larger audience because of the Pioneer's insertion into The Forum."

Huber emphasizes that these changes will only amplify the professional quality of content to which subscribers of the Pioneer have grown accustomed. "The West Fargo Pioneer staff is committed to continuing to provide you with the same in-depth reporting of news, sports and features that typically fill your weekly newspaper."

The West Fargo Pioneer continues to operate in its offices at 322 Sheyenne St. in West Fargo. However, as of May 1, inquiries regarding delivery of the West Fargo Pioneer should be directed to The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead by calling (701) 241-5445, (800) 274-5445, or by e-mailing
