One killed in head-on crash in north Fargo

New teen photography club offered at library

The first meeting of a new Teen Photography Club will be held June 2, at 6:30 p.m., at the West Fargo Public Library. Meetings will be held the first and third Monday of each month with the club aimed at grades 8-12.

The sessions will be for anyone interested in taking photos. The first meeting will discuss cameras and brainstorm about subjects to photograph during the summer. Participants are asked to bring their cameras. There is no fee and no registration.

The Library's Summer Reading Program is about to begin with the theme "Catch the Reading Bug!" It will run June 2 through July 31, with all sorts of fun, including crafts, games, puppets, cookie decorating, reading, movies, and real, live bugs.

The program is geared for children who have completed Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Sign-up is at the library service desk. There is no fee for activities, but participants are requested to pre-register, as class sizes are sometimes limited. The schedule includes:

"Catch the Reading Bug" Kick-Off, Monday, June 2, 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Library tours, program sign-up, free T-shirts, and explanation of the summer reading program. Kids will also be making their own reading journal and create a bug.

Knitty Giddy, Tuesday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m. All Knitters welcome. If you are an experienced knitter bring along your projects and knit. If you are a new knitter bring your SZ 8 to SZ 10 needles and a skein of yarn and you will receive help getting started. No fee. For information, call Diane at the library.

Bug Safari, Wednesday, June 4. Join the library for a Bug Safari with your camera. Grades 1-5: 10 a.m. to noon; Grades 6-8: Noon to 2 p.m. Pre-registration required, as class size is limited. Sign up at the library service desk, or call 433-5460.

Randy the Balloon Man, Wednesday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m., making balloon bugs.

Babysitting Clinic, Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clinic is geared for boys and girls, who are at least 12 years old. Bring your sack lunch. Introduction to babysitting, responsibilities of babysitters, and checklist of important information will be covered. The cost is $30. Scholarships are provided through the American Red Cross, if needed. The Babysitting Clinic is being sponsored by West Fargo Parks and West Fargo Public Library. The deadline is May 30.
