WEST FARGO - Police here arrested two people early today after one of them allegedly tried to force his way into an apartment unit.

Police responded to the reported burglary at 3 a.m. at 1515 14th Ave. E., police Chief Arland Rasmussen said.

A 24-year-old woman living in the apartment told police that someone had pounded on her door twice. The second time she looked through the peephole and saw a stranger wearing a hat.

"She opened the door partway. The guy said, 'I know you,' and she says, 'No, I don't know you,' and he started to push his way in," Rasmussen said.

The woman's 25-year-old boyfriend had gotten up by that time and met the suspect as he pushed his way into the apartment. He forced the suspect back into the hallway, where the two tussled, Rasmussen said. No one was seriously injured.

The suspect and another man with him fled the apartment. West Fargo and Fargo police arrived and found the two suspects hiding in a parking area behind the apartment building, Rasmussen said.

Police arrested Ali Abdiazia Hashi, 26, of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Yusuf A. Osman, 25, of Minneapolis, on suspicion of burglary and assault. Osman allegedly hit the boyfriend in the hallway, Rasmussen said.

Both were taken to the Cass County Jail.
