West Fargo graduating seniors Nick Hulm and Genia Wilson were crowned king and queen during the Junior ROTC Military Ball held at the West Fargo High School on April 18. Approximately 125 students and JROTC staff members attended the annual formal affair.

The evening's festivities began with a social hour and photos of couples taken by Y2K Photography from Fargo. Opening ceremonies began at 6:15 p.m. with the Presentation of Flags and Posting of Colors by the Color Guard, followed by a short program, dinner, and coronation, with the dance starting at 8 p.m. James Peterson, West Fargo's JROTC Battalion Commander, served as Master of Ceremonies.

King Hulm and Queen Wilson reigned over the ball along with their court. Members of the royal court were designated from each year's Leadership Education and Training level, including, LET 1 (first year JROTC cadets): Dianna Hesse and Tyler Lenertz; LET 2 (second year JROTC cadets): Shelby Lewis and DJ Halverson; LET 3 (third year JROTC cadets): Jennie DuShane and Mike Braaten; LET 4 (fourth year JROTC cadets): Genia Wilson and Nick Hulm. Queen Wilson was presented with a tiara, while King Hulm received an honorary saber.

Hulm has been accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point with a full four-year scholarship, and will begin training in June. Wilson will be attending the University of Mississippi with a full U.S. Naval scholarship.

Junior ROTC Awards Night will be held tonight (Thursday, April 30), in the West Fargo High School Theater, with a social hour beginning at 6:30 p.m., and the awards ceremony at 7 p.m.
