Benefit to be held Feb. 18 for Schulte family

A special Spaghetti Feed and Silent Auction benefit will take place for the Deb Schulte family on Thursday, Feb. 18, at Big D's, 1515 42nd St. S., Fargo, running from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by an evening of dancing with music provided by "At the Emporium," compliments of Big D's. The event is open to the whole family, with all ages welcome to participate until 10 p.m.

Deb Schulte was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor in September. She passed away Jan. 25, after making the most of her remaining time with loved ones. Organizers would like this event to be a night of awareness, support, and most importantly, a celebration of Deb's life.

Deb's daughter, Marissa Schulte, is a single mother of a developmentally delayed child. As the only family members, both depended highly on their mother and grandmother for support, with Deb helping care for her granddaughter after her surgeries and helping take her to multiple therapies.

With Deb's rapidly deteriorating health condition and death, Marissa had taken on the added expenses necessary for her mother's care and has been unable to work since November acting as her mother's 24-hour caregiver.

All proceeds from the benefit will go directly to the Schulte family to help cover medical and funeral expenses. Thrivent Lutheran has generously offered to match funds to help make the night even more significant.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and help Marissa and Chrizzy and all of the family's friends celebrate the amazing influence that Deb has had on all of their lives.

The silent auction will feature a variety of donations from local businesses, including: an autographed Adrian Peterson photo, autographed Matt Cullen photo/apparel, microderm abrasions, and gym memberships, tanning packages, gift cards to various restaurants, free hotel/resort stays, Fargo Force club seats, Timberwolves tickets, rounds of golf, and concert and theatre tickets.

Freewill donations will be accepted with proceeds going to help the Schulte family.

If you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be made out to "The Deb Schulte Benefit" at the Town and Country Credit Union, 1501 32nd Ave. S., Fargo, ND, 58103.
