Major delays expected on interstate corridors through Fargo this week

FARGO - There will be significant delays in the Interstate 94 and Interstate 29 corridors in Fargo the rest of the week, as crews rip up pavement in one lane of westbound I-94 from I-29 to just west of the 45th Street interchange, the North Dakota Department of Transportation said.

The lane closure is part of a $7.7 million project to widen the 45th Street interchange. The NDDOT said in a news release today that the lane should be closed until Friday and that the speed limit in the work zone on I-94 is lowered to 40 mph.

Motorists on I-29 may see traffic backing up between 13th Avenue South and the I-94 exit, the NDDOT said.

Delays on both the interstates are expected to be worst during rush hour.

A reconstruction project on 12th Avenue North will also cause delays, according to the news release.

Stretches of eastbound and westbound lanes on 12th Avenue North are closed near North Dakota State University and drivers can expect some traffic snarls, the NDDOT said.
