Residents Asked to Monitor Dikes

FARGO, N.D. (April 8, 2011) - As the level of the Red River continues to rise and water begins touching dikes, residents living along the primary alignment are asked to monitor dikes in their back yards. Residents should monitor dikes 24 hours a day. If residents see any seepage or pooling water, or have any concerns, they are asked to call the resident information hotline at 476-4199. This line is staffed 24 hours a day.

To ensure the integrity of flood protection measures, National Guard members and Fargo firefighters are walking dikes around the clock. City of Fargo engineers are inspecting earth levees and sandbag dikes to ensure their integrity.
