Special Events

Fort Lincoln Display: Oct. 1 — Dec. 31. Display of materials from the North Dakota State Historical Society on the Fort Lincoln Internment Camp located in Bismarck.

Coding for Kids!: 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Kids in kindergarten and up can participate in a one-hour introduction to computer science. No experience is required. Laptops will be provided, but kids can bring their own. Participation certificates will be awarded at the end. Advance registration for this event is requested. Gift a Piece of Your Family History: 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Learn basics of preserving family photographs and documents in both print and electronic formats. Bring photographs and documents, and library staff will help make digital scans. Please note, the library can only accept flat objects such as photographs or paper (not video or audio recordings), and each attendee is welcome to bring up to five items to scan. Bring a thumb drive to store the scans or take one from the library. Register for this event at the service desk in the library or by calling (701) 433-5460.

Technology Class — Smartphone Basics: 1 p.m. Tuesday. Learn the basics about smartphones. Bring a smartphone; time will be allotted for specific questions at the end of class. Space is limited. Please register at the service desk or by calling (701) 433-5460. Free.

Regular Events

Friday Morning Movie — "Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown": 10:30 a.m. Friday. The gang trys to persuade Linus to give up his blanket in this Peanuts classic. Free movie and popcorn. Rated G.

Genealogy: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Bring projects or just ask questions.

The Next Chapter Book Club: Holiday Social: 7 p.m. Monday. December holiday social and book sharing. Each person will be asked to tell about a book enjoyed. No registration necessary. Free and open to the public.

Simply Stories: 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. This session is geared for lap babies and preschoolers and is just stories — no crafts. For stories and simple make-and-take crafts, visit the library at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Registration is not required.

Storytime with a Craft: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Story times are geared for preschool through first grade age children and their caretakers. Daycares are welcome, but for groups larger than five, please call ahead at (701) 433-5460. Registration is not required.

Twisted Stitchers: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Join this fun group for an evening of knitting or crochet. Come with your own supplies. Not for beginners, but tips will be given to knitters and crocheters needing help. No pre-registration required.

Technology Tutoring: 4-5 p.m. Wednesday. A one-on-one tutoring session. Bring device or use one of the library's iPads or computers. All ages are welcome and no registration is needed.

Movie of the Month— "Scrooge": 1 p.m. Dec. 14. Charles Dickens' beloved family classic. Free movie and popcorn. Rated G.

New Release Movie — "Home Again": 2 p.m. Dec. 16. Free movie and popcorn. Rated PG-13.

Gingerbread House Challenge for Kids: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19. The library will provide frosting, decorative candies, and graham cracker walls. Space is limited, so registration is requested. To register call (701) 433-5460 or sign up at the service desk in the library.


The afterschool program will be open Monday through Friday (when school is in session) from 3-5:30 p.m.
