Pioneer staff earns NDNA contest awards

The West Fargo Pioneer earned 11 awards, including five first place honors, at the 125th Anniversary Convention of the North Dakota Newspaper Association held May 5 and May 6 in Grand Forks.

The staff took first place awards in their respective category for newspapers with 2,000 or more circulation for best web site for the Pioneer, and for the 2011 Calendar; Tyler Shoberg for headline writing: "Amid April showers, board picks Flowers," and Sports Reporting "Packer Pipeline"' and Jamie Grant for advertising design of "Power Up," and ad promoting the website.

Shoberg also earned second place for a sports feature "Munyer's Mite," and an honorable mention for a sports column, "Time spent outdoors is a blessing." In the advertising category, Jamie Grant also took second place for promotion of the newspaper with an ad titled "Show your true colors;" and Grant and Will Foss took home third place honors for special advertising section, "Bonanzaville," entertainment/liquor ad, "Legends Gill & Bar - 60's Party," and vehicle ad,

"Dave's Tire."
