West Fargo's Scarr named to state library position

Carrie Scarr, West Fargo Public Library's Assistant Director, has been named North Dakota Library Association's Archivist / Historian. This position is in addition to Scarr's current duties as Assistant Director.

The archivist / historian preserves North Dakota Library Association's records and is the executive board's consultant on what should be kept and for how long. The North Dakota Library Association (NDLA) supports North Dakota library professionals through online discussion groups, professional development grants, and an annual conference.

Scarr is an active member of NDLA where she also serves on the Editorial Committee of "The Good Stuff" (NDLA's magazine) where she writes articles on "Browsing the Cyberstacks" (interesting websites) and the "Director's Corner" (which introduces new library directors to NDLA members).

West Fargo Library Director Sandra Hannahs said Scarr's new position will benefit the West Fargo Historical Center (located inside the Library) as it begins to digitalize its collection. The Historical Center was recently approved for a North Dakota Historical Society grant of $1032 which will be used for archival supplies.

The public is welcome to visit the Historical Center, and contributions of yearbooks, photographs, and documents of West Fargo individuals and businesses are accepted. Call 701-433-5460 for hours to visit the center or to discuss a donation.
