West Fargo VFW presents honors at awards banquet

The West Fargo VFW held its annual awards banquet April 26, where honors were presented for Voice of Democracy (VOD), Patriots Pen, Patriotic Art, as well as for EMT, Police Officer, and Firefighter of the Year. 

VOD awards were presented by Ann Chase and Jamie Olson, co-chairs for the program.  Lance Wilson was awarded first place, and Crystal Boerger was awarded second place. 

Patriots Pen awards were presented by Ann Chase and Jamie Olson (Charlie Weible is co-chair for this program, but was unable to attend). Winners were Andrew Haarsager in first place, Mayim Stith in second place, and Emily Bourassa in third place. 

Patriotic Art awards were presented by Chairman Patti Tuff. Ali Hermanson was awarded first place, Courtney Glassman won second place, and Jesse Suppa won third place. 

The EMT of the Year award was presented to Joey Eblen; Rhonda Jorgenson was awarded the Police Officer of the Year Award; and Joey Porter was declared the Firefighter of the Year. 

Craig Johnson, Commander of the VFW, presented a special VFW Volunteer of the Year award to Jamie Olson. Agnes Rieniets, Ladies Auxiliary President, honored Gen Shoman with a special award for her 30-plus years as Auxiliary Secretary.
