Grooters named Principal for Sheyenne High School

Greg Grooters

West Fargo Public Schools Superintendent David Flowers has announced that Dr. Greg Grooters, the current principal at the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center, has accepted the position as the first Principal of West Fargo Sheyenne High School.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to set up a place where kids can find success," Grooters said.

Grooters has a Master of Science Education degree from North Dakota State University and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota. He came to the district in 1998, serving as an Assistant Principal at West Fargo High School until 2007, when he was appointed as principal of Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center.

"We have been planning here for a while to add this academic space," Grooters said. "It will be kind of an evolution as we add one grade at a time, but it's exciting to get the class of '16 and their parents in here and plan with them."

After interviewing Dr. Grooters, as required by district policy, Dr. Flowers stated, "Dr. Grooters' work in the district, as well as his performance in the interview, demonstrates that he has a passion for the work that lies ahead. He is well-prepared to lead the exciting process of helping create West Fargo Public Schools' second 9-12 high school. Selection of the staff, including the leadership team, and the phasing-in of academic and activities programs will be among his priorities in the coming months."

West Fargo Sheyenne High School will be phased in over the next three years, one grade level at a time, as the two stages of construction allow. The transition will be completed when this year's freshmen become seniors in 2015-16.

"It will be a smooth transition," Grooters said. "We have a great staff, and we'll make it work."
