Fargo woman receives 2-year sentence for hit-and-run crashes with kids in car


FARGO — A Fargo woman was sentenced Monday, July 10, to two years behind bars for driving a vehicle that was involved in two hit-and-run crashes, with two children and their father as her passengers.

Rachel Faith Thompson, 28, pleaded guilty Monday in Cass County District Court to charges of reckless endangerment and DUI, both Class C felonies, and menacing and criminal trespass, both Class A misdemeanors.

Charges of leaving the scene of an accident and child neglect or abuse were dismissed.

Thompson was given credit for having already served 138 days in custody. Also as part of her sentence, she was ordered to pay $2,000 in fees.

According to court documents:

Thompson was the driver of a vehicle that struck two vehicles on Feb. 23 near 35th Avenue South and University Drive in Fargo. Her passengers were a man and his two children.

After the crashes, Thompson left the scene and forced her way into a private home, according to court records.
