WF schools lose more than 400 years of service

West Fargo Public Schools is losing more than four centuries of experience.

Twenty teachers and classified staff are retiring from the West Fargo School District, taking a combined 404 years of employment with them.

Several retirees had been with the district for more than 20 years, but one in particular left the longest tenure.

Dawn Benson began her career with the West Fargo school district in September 1976. Her retirement this year as a speech pathologist from Westside Elementary gives her 36 years of working with West Fargo students.

Not far behind are classified staff members Jackie Hoglund and Marge Loegering, who each boast 34 years at WFPS. Hoglund began in January of 1978, and Loegering started in August the same year.

A full list of school district retirees, which includes their final position, working location, and years of service, is as follows:

Rebecca Conyers, Eastwood Elementary, second grade teacher, 29 years.

Ann Dye, Aurora Elementary, third grade teacher, 32 years.

Leah Heide, Cheney Middle School, language arts teacher, 24 years.

Dennis Howitz, Berger Elementary, principal, 20 years.

Linda Lund, South Elementary, third grade teacher, 27 years.

Marty Malmberg, South Elementary, fifth grade teacher, eight years.

Pamela Raeszler, West Fargo High School, graduation coach, four years.

Kathlyn Scott, Lodoen Education Center, curriculum coordinator, 22 years.

Christopher Sjue, WFHS, teacher JROTC, seven years.

Irene Van Eekhout, Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center, language arts teacher, 11 years.

Pamela White, Berger Elementary, reading teacher, 28 years.
