WEST FARGO — Sheyenne Street will be closed for most of the day on Wednesday, July 25. The road will be closed from 13th Avenue West to 19th Avenue West from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. while crews pave Sheyenne Street from north of 17th Avenue West to the south side of the 13th Avenue intersection. This closure is necessary due to limited space on this stretch for paving equipment and trucks to operate as well as the safety of personnel.
Residents with driveway access on the west side of Sheyenne will be allowed to use the road, but no through traffic will be allowed, city officials said in a news release.
During the closure, residents with driveway access on the west side of the road north of 19th Avenue West will be able to use Sheyenne to access their homes and residents in the Beaver Creek development will be able to enter and exit Sheyenne from the south development entrance and travel south.
This is the final paving closure for the new northbound lanes on Sheyenne Street between 13th and 19th Avenues. The east side of the 17th Avenue and Sheyenne intersection will reopen following Wednesday's paving.
In connection with these paving operations, the contractor will begin sawing operations after paving, which may last through the night until the early morning Thursday, July 26.
Sawing allows crews to control cracking of the pavement and avoid premature failure of the road. The timing is critical and cannot be delayed once paving is completed. This will result in an increase in construction noise that lasts outside of normal construction hours.
All planned construction activities are tentative and dependent on weather and construction progress. For updates, visit www.westfargostreets.com.
