The West Fargo Patriots finished the regular season strong, sweeping three doubleheaders against Fargo Metro, Wahpeton and Mandan in their final week.

They started the week as well as any, with a pair of 7-0 victories against Fargo Metro on Tuesday.

The first game saw a five-run third inning for the Patriots, complemented by pitcher Anjelo Shepherd's five-hit, complete game shutout. Shortstop Andy Young hit a solo home run - his 10th of the season - over the high fence in left field in the fifth inning to wrap up the scoring in the first game.

The team got another five-hit complete game shutout in the second game, this time from Devin Wagenman.

Third baseman Landon Uetz paced the Patriots offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate with his second home run of the year and three RBIs.

They then followed up with another two-game sweep on Wednesday, this time against Wahpeton by scores of 6-5 and 13-5.

Uetz picked up the win on the mound in the first game, and Kory Wolden gave up five hits and picked up the victory in the second.

The Patriots' Friday doubleheader against Mandan marked the end of the regular season, and they finished in grand fashion with a 3-2 victory in the first game and a 10-5 win in the second.

Once again, Uetz picked up the victory on the mound in the first game. He also picked up two hits in the second game.

The Patriots end the regular season with a 35-16 record.

The American Legion state tournament is currently in progress here in West Fargo.
