Restrictions in place until further notice

Even with the rain we received yesterday, city public works officials say they want watering restrictions to remain in place due to recent extended dry conditions taking their toll, as well as the fact that one of the city's weill is under reconstruction and therefore not in use.

So for those of you still watering to keep lawns and flower and vegetable gardens flourishing, remember watering is based on an even-odd system. Properties with even-numbered addresses water on even-numbered days and those with odd-numbered addresses water on odd-numbered days.

Newly seeded or sodded lawns are exempt and can be watered for 15 consecutive days following planting before the restriction applies. Newly planted trees and gardens are totally exempt from the schedule.

The last criteria applies to watering times. Users are asked not to water between the peak usage hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. but are free to do so any other time.

City staff said the process is working well and they are appreciative to residents who are making it a point to comply.
