Benefit set to assist Tami Mehl
Family, friends and Shanley High School will host a Benefit to assist Tami Mehl on Sunday, August 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shanley High School, 5600 25th St. S., Fargo. The event will feature a dinner, silent auction and entertainment.
Tami was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia Inversion 3 on March 19, and admitted to Roger Maris on April 2. Her Leukemia did not respond to treatment so three weeks later she was transferred, via ambulance, to the University of Minnesota Fairview for an additional six weeks, where she is awaiting a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Tami faces extensive care and treatment that will include another one-and-a-half to two months of inpatient care and then an additional two to three months of outpatient care in Minneapolis.Throughout this timeframe, Tami requires a caregiver, and her husband Tim is on a leave of absence from Wanzek Construction, where he has worked for the past five years. Tami is a 12-year employee of JPII Catholic Schools Network.
Proceeds from the benefit will help Tami pay for medical and other expenses resulting from her leukemia and the extensive care and treatment she needs.
Lend A Hand, a program of DMF, is providing up to $5,000 of matching funds to further assist the family.
