Family-oriented Fair, something for everyone

The Fairgrounds in West Fargo is a hub of activity as the 2013 Red River Valley Fair officially kicked off Tuesday and continues through Sunday. An overview of the grounds shows all in readiness on Monday as crews worked long and hard to set up equipment and assemble the Murphy Brothers Exposition rides which will receive a real workout over the six-day run. The Red River Valley Fair has had a rich history of entertainment and family-oriented appeal for well over 100 years dating all the way back to 1904.

The 2013 version is offering more of the same, encouraging everyone to "Crave the Fair," whether you're looking for concerts, midway rides, ag exhibits, or good old fairway food.

The event kicked off Tuesday and continues through Saturday, July 14, at its convenient West Fargo location on the west edge of town, directly off the Interstate.

This year's high profile slate promises to once again be jam-packed with a variety of regular returning popular events and activities as well as a yearly passel of new ones -- truly offering something diverse and all-encompassing for all those attending.

A great musical mix of rock and country entertainment is headlining the grandstand nightly (Rodney Houser was expected to wow the crowd last night), the Murphy Brothers Exposition is back with their exciting array of rides, the on-grounds action is just as lively as ever, and an abundance of food vendors and other exhibits prevail.

Country music fans are looking forward to the appearance of The Band Perry, a holdover act from last year, as the fitting conclusion to this year's entertainment roster.

The event is also promoting an array of contests that might appeal to those seeking a little challenge and well-earned recognition.

Fair officials have been working long and hard to promote all the 2013 Red River Valley Fair has to offer in an attempt to outdo previous gatherings.

So if you are looking for something new and exciting to do that is just a little bit out of the ordinary, the Fairgrounds promise to be the perfect place to fill a few hours or an entire day and evening for that matter.

Take the time to check it out. More information and complete details about daily scheduling and all Fair-related events is available on their website at
