Input sought on Park District survey, election filing deadline approaches

The West Fargo Park District is looking for your input and time is running out.

They'd like to know how you feel about existing and future sports, fitness, recreation and aquatic spaces and programs.

Therefore, they are inviting the public to complete an online survey by next Tuesday, April 15. To so do visit and select the survey.

It will only take a few minutes of time but it will be well worth it. The information will serve as a valuable resource tool for a growing park system and community.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to call the Park District office at 433-5360.

This week also poses the last opportunity for those of you thinking about running for any of the open City positions or School Board seats in the June 10 Election to get those petitions circulated and returned to respective City offices by the filing deadline of Friday, April 11, at 4 p.m. School Board candidates must file an Affidavit of Candidacy and a Statement of Interests with the business manager of the School District, also by 4 p.m., this Friday.

A number of positions are open in West Fargo and our neighboring communities. All are four-year terms, including the school board seats.

Thought a little recap of specific openings might be helpful if you're considering a run, so here goes.

In West Fargo two City Commission and two Park Board seats are open.

In Harwood the Mayor post is open, along with two City Council and two Park Board spots.

Horace has the Mayor post open, along with two City Council and three Park Board positions.

In Mapleton the Mayor post is open, along with two City Council and two Park Board seats.

In Reiles Acres the Mayor spot and two Council positions are up for grabs.

There are also three positions open on the West Fargo School Board.

Those interested must be a qualified voter of the City and a resident for at least nine months preceding the election. The petition must contain the signatures of qualified electors, equal to but not less than 10 percent of the qualified voters who voted for that office in the last City election. However, not more than 300 signatures are required.

Petitions are available online at
