Last month, Harwood's Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran competed in a friendly softball game at Rivertree park in Harwood. The event was coordinated by Maple Sheyenne's Evangelism Chairperson, Greg Geston.

A picnic meal of hot dogs and pot luck desserts was held for players and the 60 fans in attendance before the opening pitch. The fans came from both congregations and gathered to cheer on their respective teams.

The game saw many hits and many runs from both teams. In the end, Zion Lutheran's team ended up winning 20-15.

Following the game's conclusion, kids in the stands were allowed to hit and run the bases.

Players and fans alike agreed that this should be an annual event, and both churches intend to compete in another match-up next year.
