Franek verbals to NDSU wrestling

West Fargo's Jared Franek announced via social media on Wednesday, June 28, he is verbally committed to North Dakota State. Franek is likely to wrestle at 149 or 157 pounds for NDSU.

Franek, an upcoming senior this fall from Harwood, is a three-time defending North Dakota state champion and has 212 high school career victories. Franek also won the 2016 USA Wrestling Cadet Freestyle and Folkstyle national championships and is a two-time Minnesota Christmas tournament champ. Franek took second at Flonationals in April and is nationally ranked No. 16 at 152 pounds and No. 63 overall in the class of 2018 by Flowrestling.

Former West Fargo teammates Jesse Shearer and Brandon Metz, who are a year older than Franek, will be going to NDSU this fall.

Franek wrote on Twitter: "I am proud and excited to announce that I have verbally committed to continue my athletic and academic career at NDSU!! #GoBison"
