Sports in Brief: Youth basketball players qualify for national tournament

Two West Fargo fourth graders are heading to North Carolina with their basketball team to compete in a national tournament.

Christian Kuntz and Blake Berg helped the Northern Heat to a first-place finish in the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services spring championships in Maple Grove, Minn. last month. The team qualified for the USSA Boys National Championships, which will be held July 22-25 in Greensboro, N.C.

Other team members include: Ryan Kerr of Moorhead; Connor Kvalvog and Harrison Thom of Fargo; and Caydn Schwabe and Hayden Overby of Thompson, N.D.

Essentia Health to hold sports physical blitz until July 15

Essentia Health is holding a sports physical blitz at its West Acres Clinic, which runs through Friday, July 15.

Sports physical weekday appointments will be scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9p.m. with Saturday appointments from 9 a.m. to 4p.m.

Cost is $59 for the basic sports physical, with cash payment due at exam or insurance submission available. Parental consent is required, and it is requested that students bring their school's physical form with to the appointment.

Lab, x-ray, immunizations and other tests will be additional charges; if it is preferred for a child to have a full exam, it is asked that a well-child exam be scheduled with his or her primary care provider.
