Patriots cap season with loss to Grand Forks

The West Fargo Patriots ended their American Legion regular season with a 7-6 loss to Grand Forks on Sunday night.

The team was led statiscally by shortstop Andy Young, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Catcher Tucker Bucholz also hit a solo home run.

Pitcher Zach Steckler started the game, pitching the first four innings and striking out three but giving up four hits and five walks.

Matt Barclay pitched in relief, giving up three hits and striking out two batters.

Despite out-hitting grand forks 11-7, nine of the Patriots' hits were singles, and they were unable to get enough baserunners across the plate.

With the loss, the Patriots end the regular season with a record of 35-14. Young batted .557 on the season and hit 10 home runs.
