Senior running back Preston Lehmann carried the load once again, and the Packers topped the Minot Magicians 21-14 in the first round of the playoffs.

"It was a good game," Packers coach Jay Gibson said. "We did a nice job up front, and when they made a mistake we took advantage. That's sign of a good team."

Lehmann carried the ball 23 times for 173 yards and all three Packer touchdowns, including one from 78 yards out in the first quarter that erased the seven-point Minot lead.

"There's nothing better than answering a score with a score," Gibson said, "especially when it's a big one like that."

Packers' quarterback Scott Cameron completed nine of his 15 pass attempts for 109 yards.

The Packers now move on to face the top-ranked Bismarck Demons - who beat West Fargo 29-0 in the first game of the season - on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Bismarck Community Bowl.

"We are a much better team now," Gibson said. "We couldn't run the ball at all that time. We weren't blocking well. We've come a long way."
