The Packer girls ended the regular season with a 64-44 win over the Fargo Davies Eagles on Thursday evening.

“We stepped it up defensively and made them antsy,” junior guard Cassidy Thorson said. “We’re feeling good going into the postseason. We’re getting all of our players back and getting into a rhythm.”

Center Cassidy Nelson led the team with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Jolene Woodbury was close behind with 13 points.

“We had a cold shooting spell for a while there, and the best thing for that is one more pass,” head coach Barb Metcalf said. With our team, we’re a tough package to deal with because on any given night, we can have two or three different players score in double digits. I thought Jolene and Cass Nelson were real sparks tonight.”

The girls enter the playoffs with a 16-2 record and a share of the lead in the Eastern Dakota Conference. However, Fargo Shanley has the tie-breaker over the Packers, relegating them to the No. 2 seed.

“We haven’t peaked yet,” Metcalf said. “As coaches, this is the kind of team you build for. I know we have more to give.”
