The West Fargo Girls’ track team cleaned house in Friday’s Eastern Dakota Conference Indoor Championship meet, taking first in four events and finishing with 139 points, 50 points ahead of the second-place Shanley Deacons.

The boys’ team finished second with 124.5 points, taking first in six events.

The highlight for the girls’ team was senior Amanda Levin, who took first in the 60-, 200- and 400-meter dashes. The other first-place finish for the girls came from Christina Bruenjes in the triple jump.

The boys also had a three-win athlete, as senior Jaime Heinen-Lugert finished first in the 60-meter dash, the long jump and the triple jump.

“I thought both teams were balanced in scoring points,” coach Darin McKinnon said. “Amanda and Jaime were both triple winners in their events and that says a lot because of the regional competition.”

Both teams were scheduled to compete on Friday for a 2 p.m. meet at Concordia College in Moorhead, but that meet has been cancelled. Their next scheduled meet is on Friday, April 19, at Davies High School.
