Boys second, girls fourth at EDC cross country meet
The Packers cross country teams finished the Eastern Dakota Conference meet on Saturday with a second-place finish from the boys team and a fourth-place finish from the girls.
Leading the boys team was junior Parker Rosenau, who placed sixth out of 146 runners and finished his 5k in 17 minutes, 3 seconds. Junior Keegan Cronin was just nine seconds behind him, placing eighth.
Eighth-grader Noah Schaeffer finished 12th with a 17:45 time, and freshman John Emerson ran his 5k in 18:13 to finish 24th.
On the girls team, freshman Jen Dufner finished fourth out of 169 runners with a 4k time of 15:52.
Freshman Katelyn Ask was the second Packer in the top ten, finishing ninth with a 16:07 time.
Eighth-grader Madison Urlaub finished 12th with a 16:22 time, and junior Alexis Young took 20th with a time of 16:41.
Rosenau, Cronin and Schaeffer were named to the All-Conference boys team, while Dufner, Ask, Urlaub and Young were named to the girls team.
The North Dakota State Cross Country tournament will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Valley City.
