Cross Country teams take ninth in state meet

The Packers’ cross country season came to an end on Saturday, where both the boys and girls teams finished in ninth place of 18 teams at the state meet at Bjornson Park Golf Course in Valley City.

“Injuries and illnesses prevented us from getting into the top five,” head coach Joe Bailey said. “but Jen, Parker and Keegan all ran tremendous races.”

Freshman Jen Dufner led all Packers with an eighth-place finish on the girls side with a 4k time of 15:19.37. Freshman Katelyn Ask finished 38th of 154 runners with a 16:16.07 time.

On the boys side, junior Parker Rosenau led the team, finishing 17th of 158 runners with a time of 16:47.98. Junior Keegan Cronin was just three seconds behind him, finishing 20th with a 16:50.54 time.

For finishing in the top 20, Dufner, Rosenau and Cronin were named to the All-State Team.
