Packer boys hoopsters win two, move to first in EDC

The West Fargo boys basketball team moved into first place in the Eastern Dakota Conference after two straight wins over conference rivals.

The Pack, ranked fourth in EDC preseason polls, beat Valley City 73-37 on Tuesday before edging past Fargo South 66-61 on Friday.

Tuesday’s game saw the Packers leading by 40 at halftime. Junior forward Travis Schock took the game in his hands right away, scoring the first 11 points for the team, including a thunderous two-handed dunk.

“My shots were really falling,” Schock said. “My legs were into it. It just felt really good tonight.”

Schock led the team with 19 points against the Hi-Liners, then scored 19 again on Friday night. Forward Melvin Collins also scored 19 in that game to go with his 11 rebounds.

The Packers head to Shanley on Tuesday for a 7:30 game.
