Girls fourth, boys seventh at indoor state meet

The West Fargo track teams ended the weekend’s Class A state indoor tournament at North Dakota State University with a fourth-place, 51-point finish for the girls team and a seventh-place, 28-point finish for the boys.

Highlighting the girls team was the 4x800 meter relay team of Jen Dufner, Madison Urlaub, Mattyson Barta and Alexis Young, which finished second out of 11 teams in 10 minutes, 32.36 seconds.

Dufner also finished fourth out of 31 athletes in the 3200-meter run, ending with a time of 11:58.55.

Junior Kennedi Sand finished third in the 60-meter hurdles, ending the final heat in 9.9 seconds.

Coming off an ACL injury, defending state champ Amanda Levin finished fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.95. She also ran the 60-meter dash in 8.32 seconds, good enough for 10th place.

On the boys side, senior Daniel Asa highlighted the runners, finishing second in the 60-meter dash in 8.65 seconds. He also finished third in the long jump, jumping 20 feet, 9 inches.

Sophomore Alex Talley finished second in the shot put out of 55 competitors, throwing 48 feet, 5 inches.

The Packers return to NDSU on Friday afternoon for the Eastern Dakota Conference indoor championship. The meet begins at 2 p.m.
