Just one week into the regular season, the West Fargo girls soccer team is already the only undefeated team left in the Eastern Dakota Conference.

After thrashing Devils Lake 19-0 at home on Thursday evening, the Packers traveled to Mandan on Saturday, beating Bismarck High 4-1 and Bismarck Legacy 4-0.

Their first game saw junior forward Alison Enno score a game-high five goals, while senior midfielder Alli Springer and sophomore Erica Lee each score three.

“(Nineteen goals) is probably more than we had all last season,” head coach James Moe said. “I think the girls were just excited to get outside. That is certainly something I would never preach to them.”

Leading the Packers in their game against the Demons was Enno, who scored two goals in the first half.

The team’s other two goals came from Lee and senior Alexandra Dub.

Junior goalkeeper Madison Neva stopped 16 of the 17 shots she faced.

The Packers’ second Saturday game saw them give an overwhelming performance, led by Springer, who scored two goals, one in each half.

Enno and Lee each had a goal in the game as well.

Defensively, the Packers stifled Legacy, allowing just one shot on net, which junior goalkeeper Daniele Haekenkamp managed to stop.

“We are looking pretty strong on defense, but you can see early on the things we need to work on,” Moe said. “When we go against some better teams, we are going to need some better defense.”

The 3-0-0 Packers head to Davies High School on Thursday to face the Eagles at 7 p.m. They then head to Grand Forks on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game against Red River.
