The West Fargo girls tennis started its regular season in the strongest possible fashion.

They began with 9-0 victory over Fargo North on Friday, and then followed that with an 8-1 win over the Jamestown Bluejays on Saturday.

Friday’s matchup saw all but one flight won by the Packers in straight sets. Senior Jamie Freden battled North’s Shelby Thorvilson to a 2-1 (5-7, 7-5, 6-4) victory.

Saturday’s highlight was senior Sammie Smith, who did not give up a single point against Jamestown’s Erin Mullowney. Likewise, junior Jenaya Wentz also kept her opponent from scoring.

The Packers’ doubles teams showed their strength as well, winning all six of the week’s doubles matches in straight sets

The team will travel to Fargo South on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match.
