The West Fargo track teams had a strong outing on Thursday, as both teams finished first out of 11 teams.

The team finished way ahead of the competition. The girls team ended with a score of 175, while the boys scored 202 points.

The Packers were in complete control of the hurdles at the meet. Sophomore Kennedi Sand finished first in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles for the girls, and senior Daniel Asa finished first in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles for the boys.

Asa also finished first in the long jump, and Sand took first in the javelin throw as well.

The rest of the teams’ 13 first-place finishes came in the field events. Sophomore Keely Walker earned two of those finishes, taking the top spot in the shot put and the discus throw for the girls.

The boys team got one top finish each from Alex Talley, Matt Keller, Scott Cameron, Brendan Walker and Cody Eisenbeisz.

The teams are scheduled to host an invitational on Friday at West Fargo High School, beginning at 3 p.m.
