The West Fargo baseball team played four games in two days but walked away with just one victory.

They managed to split their doubleheader against Wahpeton on Friday — winning the first game 2-0 but losing the second 9-6 — before losing both games against Grand Forks Red River on Saturday by scores of 5-3 and 5-4.

The team’s only win came off the arm of junior pitcher Ben Strahm, who pitched a no-hitter and struck out 11 batters for his second win of the season.

Offensively, junior outfielder Tony Nichols led the team, going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

The second game saw two-hit games from Devin Wagenman, Chase Gooding and Jacob Telander. All three of them each batted in a run.

Senior infielder Aaron Fraase went 3-for-3 in Saturday’s first game.

Sophomore Michael Glanville went 1-for-3 in the game and batted in the team’s only earned run.

Pitchers Devin Wagenman and Brennan Thiele — who eached pitched three innings — combined to strike out eight batters.

In the second game, leadoff hitter Noah Paper went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Glanville went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Gooding was on the mound for the game, striking out seven in 6 1/3 innings.

The Packers are off until Monday, when they face the Deacons of Fargo Shanley in a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
