WFXC takes second, fourth at EDC meet

West Fargo's Jessica Rosenau nears the finish line for the fastest Packer time in the girls contest of the EDC cross country meet Saturday in Moorhead.

The Packers boys and girls cross country teams couldn't defend their conference titles at last weekend's East Region meet in Moorhead.

But even so, West Fargo had a strong showing, and proved they still have ample talent within their ranks.

With 89 points, the Packers girls team placed a distant second behind Fargo Davies, who took the championship with 29 points. West Fargo was paced by Jessica Rosenau's fourth-place time of 15 minutes, 34.50 seconds. Teammate Christine Baltezore was 10th with a time of 15:50.14, and Brooke Grooters was 17th at 16:19.13.

All three earned All-Conference honors.

On the boys side, West Fargo was fourth with a team score of 91, while Grand Forks Central took the title with 67 points. Nate Peterson was the Packers' top finisher with a time of 17:09.21 for fifth place. Austin Albrecht came in at 17:36.69 for 12th place.

Both were named to the All-EDC team.'

The Packers have one more meet before the state tournament. West Fargo heads to the Fargo South Invitational at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at Rose Creek Golf Course.

Then, the Packers will take their chances at state on Saturday, Oct. 23, in Jamestown. Last year at state, Rosenau, Baltezore and Alissa Mears earned All-State second team honors.
