Ty's Take: Sprung spring sports, dates you should know

Although spring itself seems to be recoiling instead of springing, the coinciding sports are moving forward, regardless.

The West Fargo boys and girls track and field indoor season kicked off March 19. Consider them the robins of the athletic scene. The Packers likely will get really serious about competition once outdoor contests begin April 12, in West Fargo.

Even so, it's tough to imagine the boys golf team hitting the links after our most recent fresh foot of snowfall. Nevertheless, barring some serious problems, the spring sports season will go on as scheduled.

That is, if the baseball diamonds, running tracks, soccer fields, tennis courts and golf greens are devoid of water or snow when the time comes.

Let's cross our fingers that's the case - and that a certain neighborly river doesn't become too unruly with the possible copious additions of snowmelt.

In lieu of the aforementioned problems, as well as others yet to be considered, here's a list of some important (and tentative) dates for the upcoming spring sports season.
