One local veteran is bent on keeping awareness high when it comes to the Prisoner of Wars and Missing in Action (POW/MIA) associated with World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War - both those fortunate enough to return home and those still out there and unaccounted for.
Minn-Kota Feline Club will be presenting its 54th and 55th Annual ACFA Purebred and Household Pet Cat Show at the RRV Fairgrounds Commercial Building in West Fargo, April 7 and 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. With approximately 100 cats entered, people will be able to see a variety of breeds including Tonkinese, Exotic Shorthairs, Burmese, Singapura, American Shorthair, British Shorthair, Ragdolls, Maine Coon Cats and Persians. There are also several beautiful household pets of all sizes and colors.
Tessie Jones decided when she was 13 years old that she wanted to be Miss America. After capturing the Miss Fargo title last month, she is getting closer to living out that dream by advancing to the Miss North Dakota pageant June 14-16 in Williston, the steppingstone to the Miss America pageant next January. West Fargo born and raised, Jones is a 2005 graduate of West Fargo High School and presently a sophomore at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she is pursuing a double major in Art Photography and Mass Communication.
Members of the Fargo-Moorhead Toppers Car Club are placing the finishing touches on their 49th annual show, and organizers say the process couldn't be going more smoothly. As National VFW Ladies Auxiliary President, Linda Meader is required to make an official visit to all 52 states and the District of Columbia during her year-long reign. North Dakota was state number 33 last week as she made a special appearance at West Fargo VFW Post 7564, where members of the Ladies Auxiliary hosted a special Aisle of Honor to formally welcome her, followed by her attendance at both Auxiliary and Post meetings and a social hour that allowed Meader the opportunity to 'meet and greet' and get to know the club members better. Preschool Express will be hosting an open house to acquaint parents with the facility and for registration of students for the upcoming school year on Thursday, March 22, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Carolyn Cadwell is owner-instructor of the preschool located at 1222 6th St. E. in the lower level of Flame of Faith United Methodist Church. Following eight years in the preschool teaching field, mostly in West Fargo, including two as a preschool director, Cadwell decided it was time to start her own school. West Fargo's newest restaurant - TNT's Diner - is offering old-fashioned, homestyle cooking at its finest. Tim and Tammy Hagensen of Moorhead are the owner-operators of the eatery which opened to customers Monday at 405 W. Main Ave., Westgo Square, in the space formerly occupied by Jiggs' Homestyle Restaurant. The Hagensen's have a longtime restaurant connection, going all the way back to their teenage days. They eventually opened their own restaurant - TNT's Café - in the Moorhead Center Mall in March 2000, selling the business in September of 2005.
Members of the Harwood Prairie Playhouse will be delighting audiences again with their 23rd annual production featuring the Perfect Wedding. The fast-paced comedy is sure to entertain, so much so, the audience is guaranteed to end up crying with laughter. Show dates are March 15, 16 and 17, March 22, 23 and 24 and March 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and two matinee performances Sunday, March 25 and Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m., at Dawson Hall on the grounds of Bonanzaville in West Fargo.
