The West Fargo Chamber of Commerce has a new logo, vision and mission to lead their 400-plus member strong organization, with the official unveiling ceremony taking place last Thursday at the group's 49th annual Awards Breakfast meeting held at the Best Western Doublewood Inn in Fargo. "West Fargo Area Chamber of Commerce" is the new logo being touted, accented by a graphic of the winding Sheyenne River, also reminiscent of the letter 'w,' that will lead the Chamber staff into its new calendar year with a goal of securing an additional 75 members by annual meeting time next year.

Chuck Cheney was the guest of honor at a special Arbor Day tree planting ceremony last Friday at the school that bears his name - Cheney Middle School located on the corner of 17th Avenue and 9th Street East. Cheney has been a West Fargo educator for 41 years, as well as a longtime community resident. He started his teaching career in West Fargo in 1965; became principal at Berger Middle School in 1972 and in 1986 was named assistant superintendent of the West Fargo School District. In 1996 he became superintendent, serving in that capacity until his retirement in 2006.
