About one in 88 children has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to estimates from the Center for Disease Control’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network. The diagnosis of ASD may leave parents and caretakers with questions about the disorder. Pediatric Therapy Partners (PTP), a Fargo-based therapy practice for children from birth to 18 years of age, has recognized this need for ongoing autism communication and education and has developed a free, three-part seminar to educate parents and the community.

The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber has opened applications for its 2013-14 Leadership Fargo Moorhead West Fargo (LFMWF) program. The nine-month program is centered on creating leaders through community training and leadership development. The program exposes emerging and existing community leaders to issues that face the region while challenging and engaging participants to strengthen the community through service and leadership. Each year, 35 to 40 individuals are selected to participate in the LFMWF program.

Western State Bank recently made a $2,950 contribution to the West Fargo Packer Backer Association. Western State Bank developed a program to give back to the Packer Backers throughout the school year. During the West Fargo High School varsity boys and girls basketball season, Western donated $2 for each West Fargo Packer point scored at regular season home games. The Packer Backers will use the donation for various school activities throughout the year.
The Red River Valley Fair announces Sevendust to perform on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Sevendust, an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Ga., was formed in 1994 and has released nine albums. Somehow, Sevendust grows stronger with each successive album. Their personal bond not only strengthens, but the music tends to get tougher and tighter as well. Their ninth full-length offering, Black Out the Sun released in 2012, staunchly upholds that tradition.
